History

North Davis is a church with a rich heritage of faith.

We have outlived several buildings, but the mission of God remains…

We want to be a missional church family, seeking God and His will.

What began on a vacant Main Street lot in August of 1907 as an old-fashioned gospel meeting has evolved into a thriving church family with a rich heritage in the Lord.  Early members rented the Odd Fellows Hall until they used spare lumber from another church to build a simple building in early 1923.  The building had two classrooms, one on each side of the baptistery.  The baptistery was covered by a lid and a Children's Bible class was held on top of it!  The building was renovated and enlarged twice to accommodate growth during the forty years the church met on East Abram Street.

As the Abram Street Church grew, a facility was constructed at 1100 W. Randol Mill Road.  The Randol Mill Church of Christ had a seating capacity of over 1000 with 26 classrooms.  Additional adjacent properties were acquired to convert to classrooms and a benevolence center as the ministry grew.

On Sunday, March 15, 1981, the congregation moved to its current location at 1601 North Davis Drive and became the North Davis Church of Christ.  The larger facility welcomed new ministry opportunities.  The Hearts and Hands building was added in the late 1980's to act as a food and clothing distribution center.  Hearts and Hands will serve over 20,000 people with a two week's supply of food this year!  In 2003 the worship center received an extensive technology overhaul and renovation and our state-of-the-art Family Life Center was constructed.

While addresses and buildings may be important to remember, in reality they are simply tools – tools to facilitate a ministry that is centered on loving God and loving others.  That remains at the heart of what we want to be about.  What makes North Davis special is how God has and continues to transform lives.
